PUBLICATION RULES

According to the SEER models

 

The Ecotourism Brazilian Journal possesss a composed Publishing Council for famous researchers, that exert the function to evaluate and to guarantee the quality of the publication, emitting to seem on the works in each section of the magazine. The submitted works are appreciated by two appraisers, with the omission of the identification of the author. In case that he has to seem divergent, the publisher will direct the work for one third appraiser. Them to seem are analyzed and respected by the publishing advice.

Manuscripts will be evaluated on scientific quality of the following: 1. General aspects of work: Relevance, Importance, Originality, Style, Content scientific or technical; 2. Specific aspects of work: Title, Summary / Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods,  Results, Discussion, Conclusions, References.

At final evaluation, manuscripts will receive one of the following classifications: accepted without change, accepted with minor modifications, in need of extensive modifications, the reviewer should go back to the final opinion or refused.

The reviewers also constitute the Ethics Committee of the Journal, requesting information on the procedures for searches whenever they deem necessary, particularly in the case of studies involving humans.

 

1)     Publication rules to authors

a) Only original articles will be accepted to be published in portuguese,spanish or english,with the appropriate text reviews,including the grammar and the spelling ones.Articles out of the format specifications will not be considered for publishing.

b) The articles will only be posted in the SEER environment.

c) The author(s) will completely transfer the authorship rights to the magazine,and the sending of the author(s) signed authorization will be required with no costs to the journal,considering its non profit nature. The published texts, however, reflect the position of their authors and are your responsibility.

d) The authors should clarify whether there is potential conflict of interest information to be include the acknowledgments section at the end of articles.

e) The author(s) must pay R$ 80,00 and send the deposit ticket xerox by fax, by e-mail (zysman@ufscar.br) or with the text to be submited to the avaluators.This includes post costs, editals processes,and other review and publishing services,although does not mean a definite publication, that will  only  happen after the final dispatch for this. Otherwise, the article will not be submited to the analysis nor published. Also,this cost will not be refunded in case the article is not selected, because the quality of its contents or for not accomplishing the rules of the journal for the above reasons. The submission  tax may be altered at any time, due to the increase of postal taxes or sites guests, etc.

OBS: Guest authors are free from this payment (members of the comittee) he must be the 1st author of the article. The invitations are personal and not tranferable. 

g) The authors who wish to publish articles or reviews must fill in his personal data records with: complete name (no abreviations), e-mails(s), and the institution  complete data, when submitting his work.

1. Submission checking items (SEER/OJS)

1)     The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not under any other magazine evaluation, otherwise, justify on “To the Editor’s comments”.

2)     The files to be submitted are in the Microsoft Word or Open Office format (since it is not over 200MB).

3)     All the URL’s  in the text (e.g. http://www.physis.org.br) are active and ready to be clicked.

4)     The text follows the format patterns and the bibliography requirements described in Authors’ Publishing Directions , in the section “About the Journal”.

5)     This article authorship identification was withdrawn from the file and from the option Word  Properties, assuring this way the journal secret criteria, in case submitted to the pair evaluation (e.g. articles), according to the available instructions in “ Assuring the blind pair evaluation”.

2. Articles Structure

a) The authors’ personal data recordes must not be included in the handwritten part, to preserve the blind pair evaluation.

b) The extension of the articles must be between 15-30 pages,  A-4 size.

c) The abstracts should be in Portuguese/English or Spanish/English, presented in only one paragraph and with the maximum of 400 words in simple space.It will be followed by three key-words to index it,that will be separate by a comma between them (e.g. Key words: Ecotourism, Environmental Education, Landscape). The abstract and the Key words in English, must be the Abstracts version and the Key Words, obeying the specifications for the portuguese or spanish version. Before the Abstracts the version of the title in english must be written.

d) The presentation page ,with no names,must include in this order: name of the theme for submission, if it is an original text or a Review,etc.; the Titles and Sub-titles of the articles, with no abreviations, in portuguese/english or  spanish/english.

e) The text must be concise and objective, representing the content of the work ,with no more than 10 words. The title in English must be the exact version of the title in portuguese or spanish.

f) Articles specifications: the software must be the Microsoft ord or Windows Open Office ; A-4 size; ARIAL 12 (except for charts and other ilustrations, 11 size). Do not use Versalete stile; simple spaces between lines and no spaces between paragraphs; paragraphs entry: 1,25 cm ; Margins:  superior and left – 3,0 cm / inferior and right – 2,0 cm ; Titles in black type (14) ; Subtitles in black type (12); Sections in Bold type and black type (idem). Do not number the items of the text; More than 3 lines quotations, destak in the text, with 4 cm left margin.

g) The pictures will be scanned with good resolution such as to paper printing or to monitor reading (300 dpi), inserted in the text with the related subtitles and information.

h) The charts, graphics, drawings, maps and photos, plants,organograms, fluxograms, plsn,projects or other free elements must show up as possible on the page where is the related text.

i) Each article may have 10 pictures at the most. In case of having more than this, we ask for a previous consult.

j) The “bottom notes” and thanks must be included in the end, after the bibliography, mas with no special format.

k) If necessary, point any institutional membership. Indication of the mail responsible author, with editors or public, with complete postal address, with fax, phone number and e-mail.

l) If appropriate, add a paragraph, at the end, after the bibliography, recognizing any financial support,workmates and technicians help. If it is the case, indicate the work origin, as for instance: previously presented in a event, from thesis or dissertation, collect of data done in a different institution from the one that financed the research and other credits and/or facts  really etically  necessary to make public.  

m) The authors are responsible for by the exposed ideas in their work, so as to the technical responsibility and the true information , data,etc, presented. The editors are not responsible for the published texts contents and the texts do not necessarily express the editors’ opinion.

n) The deadlines to receive the articles are: June 30, October 31, February 28, for the September, January and May editions respectively.

o) Inform the authors’ e-mails , Full Address, Institutional Affiliation, as well as the link(s) to the Curriculum Vitae, Prefer Lattes version. (e.g. Vivian Castilho da Costa – http://lattes.cnpq.br/3181407490194397]

p) The files sent must have 200MB at the most.

q) All the handwritten work must have its structures linked with the References. The published work must have been mentioned in the text and must obey the ABNT  rules. It is a list of books, articles and other elements of  authors effectively used and reffered to along the article.

3. Observations:

a) The registered authors’s e-mail(s) can not have restrictions as spams,etc, as the SEER system messages will come back , interrupting the communication among authors and editors.

b) The authors are responsible for the exposed ideas in their work, as well as the technical responsibility and the true information, data,etc, presented. The editors are not responsible for the published texts contents and they do not express the editors’s opinion.

c) Articles will be accepted with 4 authors per article at the most. We kindly request the authors special attention to the rules, because the ones that are not accordingly will not be considered.

d) The authors who send their work for submission accept and agree to this Journal ruls of publishing.

4. Models for quotation and Bibliography:

4.1 Direct Quotations

a) In the direct form must be transcript between quotations, when they hold until 3 printed lines, where must be written the author’s name, the date and the page, as in the example: “People know that for so long the human being has been causing nature unbalance and that something urgent must be done to minimize the effects from this harmful action” (NEIMAN,2005p.17).

b) The quotations of more than one author will done with the indication of the 2 authors’ surname separated by “and”, as in the example: SATO and CARVALHO (2005 p. 12) say that ” the EE are much more in quicksand than in a sunny coast”.

c) When the quotation has more than 3 lines, it must be separated by a retreat paragraph with 4,0 cm  in simple space, ARIAL 11. As in the example:

Severino (2002 p.185) understands that:

                     “The argumentation, or,the operation with arguments, presented with the objectives to prove a thesis, is based on the rational evidence and in the facts evidence. The rational evidence, on its turn, is justified by the logic principles. More primitive fundaments can be searched. The evidence is the manifested certainty imposed by the power of the action ways and the own reason.”

 4.2 Indirect Quotation

a) The indirect quotation , called conceptual, reproduce ideas from a consulted source , but does not transcript the text. This kind of quotation can be presented by a paraphrase ,when it is stick to the source , and is generally preferrable to a long text quotation , but should be done clearly to show the author. In this specific case it is not necessary to mention the page number, because the paraphrase may be the synthesis of a whole thought.

4.3 Quotation of a quotation

a) Avoid using bibliographic material that was not previously consulted , but if it is indispensable, reffer to it using the apud (with) and the surname of the consulted work ,in small letters, as the example Freire apud Saviani (1998 p. 30) or (Freire apud Saviani, 1998 p. 30).

5. References

(Rules to the bibliographic references : ABNT NBR  6023:2002)

a). The bibliographic references must be listed in author alphabetical order, aligned on  the left, in 11 size, simple space between the lines, and double between the references, as the examples below:
